JSA - what happens now?
5 Answers
I'm a childminder and my OH is going to be working with me as my assistant. We have taken on an additional child but she doesnt start until end Oct. Is he still entitled to JSA or will they say he is no longer classed as actively seeking employment now? He would take a temporary job if it came up but doesnt particularly want to look for something more permanent now to end up leaving in a few months.

If the latter, then he can only claim if your joint income satisfies the conditions. If the former (which only lasts for 6 months) then he can claim provided he is available to work & actively seeking work. If he does not satisfy these conditions then he can be sanctioned - i.e. his JSA can be stopped for a period.
He has to satisfy the job centre staff that he is complying with the conditions of his job seekers agreement. If he hasn't said anything to them yet about the upcoming work it isprobably best for him to go on claiming, providing he can show them the necessary evidence of what he is doing to find work. Of course, if he is invited for an interview he will have to go or else withdraw his JSA claim.
