An Answerbank Merchandising Opportunity

Please could someone tell me whether changing your name would create a new credit file? I have heard that if you inform your present creditors such as your bank then it will all become connected but i'm just wondering whether it would work by just telling the electoral roll and utility bills. If anyone knows anything about this it would be much appreciated

Your 'other' name will still be shown on your history and you would have to illegally disassociate yourself with this name i.e. lie and tell them the other person is not you.
Then there is your driving licence and passport and tax office. I cant see how you could ever not be traced back to your original name as long as you were not trying to defraud.
When you apply for loans, passports, credit cards etc they ask by what other name you have been known and you would have to say 'none' and that would be fraud.
I had an awful credit record, CCJ's, the lot! I changed my name by deed poll to get rid of the debts. I closed my bank account and opened a different one in a my new name, changed my name on my passport and drivers licence and applied for a copy of my credit record in my new name and it was a blank page! Now I've got several credit accounts and the old debts are gone...and hopefully they will never find me!! Yay! It took a lot of blagging tho, when filling in application forms I had to say I'd never been known by another name. Be careful tho, you might not be as lucky as me.
