I am not working at the moment but I have manage to cope without claiming any benefits. Do I still have to pay towards my NI? Or any other taxes?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.With NI, if u have not paid the full amount they require then they will advise u to pay it at a later date to make it up, my partner received a letter explaining they were �400 less than what was needed and to receive full pension from the government at retirement age then a voluntary payment could be made at any time provide what was paid was a full years worth of payments at once.

Oh, and as for tax, well u dont need to pay tax on income if u are not actually earning anything, e.g living on savings.
u will still be expected to pay any council tax and if u are not claiming income support or anything similar then u will receive no help with that or any housing benefit.
Also, if u decide to claim then u must have less than 9k i believe it was in savings or investments. Hope all this helps.

Why manage without claiming? If you are genuinely unable to work why use your savings to survive on?
If you claim then your NI is kept up-to-date and if there ever comes a time you have to claim long term, then your NI contributions will not run out and therefore effect the benefit you can claim.
