The receiver (or importer) in Australia will need to pay any import duty levied by Australian Customs based on the type and value of the goods. When you send the goods you normally need to complete a Customs Declaration as to the type and value of the goods so that Customs can levy any extra charge on the importer (it may also be beneficial to enclose an invoice).

This site http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4376 explains further, but is of more use to the importer.
