my daughter has just finished gcse,s and has left school, she is going to college in sept to do A levels. she has got herself a part time job at a local hotel, and wants to continue with this when she starts college obviously to fit in with her college timetable. she will be working about 16 hrs per week, mainly at evenings and weekends. I know it wont affect child benefit, but will it affect tax credits? grateful for any info thanks in advance

Hi Toecrusher, You will have to tell the delightful people at the tax credit office that your daughter has entered full time further education and your payments will continue up to her 19th birthday.

Do you know about The Education Maintainance Awards. If you have less than 30,000 a year coming in your daughter can claim up to 30 per week in her own right. She has to have 100% attendance at college or school and she will then get up to 500 per year in bonus' straight into her bank account.

Type in EMA into a search engine and you should find details.

thanks cheekyteddy, we found out about EMA at the college open evenings and have already applied for that, just wondering if tax credits will be reduced because of her job. Thanks again
