ccjs?
I got a letter from my bank informing me they were not renewing my overdraft. Then, before the cessation of the present overdraft they were threatening to put me on the CCJ list if I didn't pay back the overdraft.I cancelled my phone and didn't realise there was still 24 pounds owing on the account. They sent a letter asking me to repay by the 16th and then another letter prior to the 16th threatening to put me on this CCJ list!
Has anyone else experienced these premature threats? Surely companies should have to prove they made reasonable attempts to retrieve monies owed prior to being allowed to place a person on the CCJ list.
Any comments?

whilst a bank has every right to call in an overdraft facility, they must give you a certain amount of time to repay it - usually one month.
Did the second letter just inform you that if you didn't pay back the overdraft, they would take county court action?
Is saying (as an example) "If you do not pay by ....., all reasonable actions will be taken against you to recover the debt, including county court action which can adversely effect your chances of getting credit in the future"
considered a threat or just information as to the consequences of not paying back?
Hi Guy,
It really isn't a question about my own circumstances, rather asking can companies put you on the CCJ list, even if they haven't made reasonable efforts to retreive the monies owed. I personally think it is unreasonable to send threat to a person when the dates THEY set for repayment hasn't even expired..Sorry if I was confusing, it's just me, I tend to confuse! Thanks for replying.
