I dont change supplier very often but after a year with NPower I was persuaded by uSwitch to change to a fixed tariff with EDF. No leaving penalty so I can change again if I like. Barely a month into my new contract I am receiving emails from comparison sites telling me how I can save money by switching again. Is it normal for customers to switch every month?

If you looked on a few sites they'll have your details and may continue to send regular emails trying to get you to use them (as they get commission on switches).
