ccj
Hello to you all,
Long story cut short........I got a CCJ april 2004,could not pay anything towards it, as i was not working at the time.
Found a job after a few months, didnt let the court know i was working again, so as i could pay off some other debts, worked 6 months then had a bad accident,so im off work with SSP waiting for an OP.
Ive just had a letter from the claimant, saying if i dont start paying a monthly amount of 200 within 7 days time, or a reply they will enforce the judgment through the courts,& ask them to freeze my bank account.
Firstly i dont have 200 to spare every month as im on the sick,i cant even cope with the SSP i get! im going to be off work for at least 5 more months.
Im very worried about still being in a job,& not telling the courts, does anyone know what might happen? should i leave my job for now till ive had my op & can go back to work? & should i reply to the claiment or let the court get in touch with me,as i cant pay anything right now.
Thankyou for your time if you do reply to this message

What they can do, is either instruct bailiffs to repossess any thing which is of any value they can seel through the auctions to realise their debt or they can get an order of attachement (which can be embarressing) as they will notify your employers nad a figre will be taken out of your wages by your employer and paid to them directly.
Talk to the company in question - if you don't talk to them they will get really annoyed and not be helpful at all
One thing that they may do is to ask the court to order that an amount be taken from source - i.e. your wages, which would be taken out by your employer.
Good luck, and remember that if you contunie to get letters such as this, you can also seek redress through the courts.
Thanks to you all that sent a message, yes im going to reply to the claiment, but first see the CAB.
My main worry was that i have a job,& didnt tell the courts that i could start paying more than 6 months ago! but as im on the sick & cant work now,i think it will be ok
Anyway thanks again for your time
Hi there, my only suggestion would be to get in touch with a Debt Managment Company or get some Debt Managment Advice. There is a number either in the Yellow Pages or the Phone Book for Debt Advice and they are very helpful and will also send you information by post with Budget sheets etc etc. For a set fee each month a Debt Management Company can negotiate a payment for you and it takes all the stress and strain off the process, but there are some bogus companies out there so beware. I recently entered a Debt Managment Programme and I feel so relieved it is all being taken care of. Hope this info helps a bit
