Banks will perform credit checks before opening the sort of current account you are looking for.
Credit scoring involves various factors being taken into consideration......unfortunately us mere mortals do not know the intimate details and weighting of the various factors considered.
However.....it helps if you've never been defaulted on any existing credit, also being on the electoral register. They also consider your age, how long you've been in your employment, how long at your current home address and so on. All banks have leaflets on credit scoring and how it works, please go in and ask for more information if you need it!
Good luck!
