I used to have one which listed all the sort codes in order and gave their
addresses but unfortunately when I retired I left it behind. Santander
have not been able to answer this question. I will accept the best answer I have received and take it from there. many thanks folks and as an exiled scot living in England best wishes for the new year at midnight. vikkid

Vikkid, it's pretty easy - just put the sort code on your original thread into Google, this comes up (I expect this is what the rest of us have done)

It doesn`t surprise me that Santander don`t know. I had an Alliance & Leicester mortgage and paid it off with a lump sum a couple of years ago. I went into the Santander branch and they couldn`t even find the number on their system because it didn`t recognise A&L a/c numbers even though Santander owned them.
Interesting, well spotted, heathfield - I've just checked it with my own current sort code. You are right, but I think the code might follow me about - the address at the mo is showing Birmingham, where I lived in a former life, but subsequently I've moved the account twice to branches local to where I live. How odd!
