Used mine for the first time yesterday,afterwards it occurred to me that anyone could steal my card and swipe it,whereas putting a PIN number in gave more security, how secure are these new ones?

I've thought about this quite a bit earlier in the year and decided I'd forgo the pleasure of having one. There is supposed to be an upper limit of £20 and the banks will apparently guarantee against fraudulent use.
However, proving it wasn't you using it and the banks way of weasling out of everything on the merest of excuses, means a no, no from me.

not secure at all for small amounts. This is not new we have them at work for paying for small things, just make sure you keep them in your pocket. There is a small metal case on amazon if you are worried:
