Who Owns a Business?

Is it possible to find out details of who owns a particular business?

If they are a limited company then yes:

If the company as a domain name go to a site that sells domain names type the companies domain name in and it will tell the name as gone and who has it and you all you want to know

I believe that Companies House do not keep a register of owners but they do keep details on the directors and company secretary of a limited company.

Companies house does indeed provide shareholder details (and the shareholders are the owners).

Shareholder details (together with Director & Co Sec details) are on the form 363 (annual return) which is sent in every year by limited companies.

That would be for Public Limited Companies then.

Scrub my last post... this is due to my misinterpretation of a company's register of members being kept at a nominated address.
