If you need the money today you'd be better off talking to your real bank rather than to the AnswerBank.

If they won't let you withdraw 2k then you could transfer it online to someone you know who can withdraw it?

Naomi, be fair now, Ivan has joined AB especially to discuss this with us.
Sorry, Baldric. Silly me. :o)
Is there something wrong with this question?
I don't know. Is there?
Not as far as I can see.
Surely someone who has that much money in the bank would know whether he could withdraw cash without a card.
How would you if it's never happened before?

I've been with Nationwide since my teens. I only found out recently that you can only make 3 withdrawals using ID after you've reported a lost card.
Can't you transfer £2k from the lost card account to the other account online and use that account to get your money?

I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression ummmm, it really does show admirable control on Ivans part that despite having a pressing financial problem he has taken the time to seek out and join AB to discuss that problem with complete strangers. so, well done Ivan, no problem at all with the question imo.
If I needed the money today, I wouldn't be asking questions here. I'd be talking to the people who can do something about it.
Banks are usually very attentive to their richer customers ummmm, it is highly likely that someone with a balance of 1 million would have had extensive contact with the customer service team, both in branch and by telephone.
My other half (when he worked in banking) used to hate the way they were made to harass and 'suck up' to the well off customers, they had to try and sell them all sorts of financial products.
But it's just a lost bank card. I ran a business with a very healthy bank balance and I don't recall the discussion about what happens if I lost the card.
Maybe it`s easier to ask people on here. After all, this is Santander we`re talking about...
If ivan is 'on the level'. He should be able to withdraw cash with the relevant photo ID and maybe letters with his name and address on along with a few bank statements. Certain banks have limits as to what you can withdraw without your card but most won't leave you without cash just because you've lost your card.
The only way for ivan to know for sure is to try it I suppose :)
