Does anyone think they can have a joint account or he can be added onto to her account.
This is desperate ..as he will now be without a job.Thay are getting married next and the reason he changed jobs was to earn more...

He won't be able to open any account without ID. Why doesn't he just get some ID? A passport will only take a week or so to arrive.
Surely very few people have absolutely no ID whatsoever.

A utility bill with his name and address on it, a driver's license, a personal letter, mortage payment records, any of these things will suffice.
Andy...I think you need a utility bill as proof of address AND ID like passport or drivers licence.

He has nothing...I have spoken to a friend who works in a bank ,the bank my daughter is in actually and she said his tax code notification letter might do...but he bins everything!!!
But his previous employer must have something ..and would he not have to give him a P45??

A passport would take longer,It will be his first ,interviews etc.We live near Liverpool so I think it would be a good idea to go there...and start the ball rolling,
Do you have to have interviews for a first passport?

Is he British?
I don't see why he'd be without a job though.
Question Author
Yes British. He handed in his notice and was to have started his new job on Monday...but they say he can`t,till he has a bank account. It sounds rather stupid ,I know people who work in BIG firms and have their salary paid into someone else`s account. This is a pub,he is a chef.
Surely he has to work in advance of payday?

Tell him to apply for a provisional, get a copy of his birth cert, and ask his previous employer to send out his p45 asap.
Question Author
...a Provisional...of what ?ummm
Driving licence. A provisional is photo ID.
He should (must) get a P45 from his present employer when he leaves.
Just to add, as I don't think anyone has answered your question regarding the 'Joint Account' idea.

Unless he already had a joint account with the bank your daughter holds hers at (Which I know, he doesn't otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question in the first place) then he wouldn't be able to be put on her account without I.D anyway. Just thought I'd answer that part of the question.
Yes, LB, but that will be issued with the payroll.
In this day and age it's more or less impossible to do anything without I.D. Every single job I've recently applied for has asked for I.D before even getting to interview stage. In the past I've had to produce I.D when working in restaurants also.

Been back onto my friend at the bank...she says a P45 won`t do...has to be
from the inland revenue..
When my son opened a bank account when he started his first job at 17 I had to produce all my ID, proof of address and his birth cert.
Does anyone know the answer to my question up there ^^

Do you have to have interviews for a first passport?
Question Author
no.
Tell him to phone your local HMRC and ask for a copy of his notice of coding.
Then ask DWP to confirm to him in writing his National Insurance number which will be on the notice of coding. 2 official documents - job done
ummmm: It depends. Sometimes I think it's random. I know if you're the age of 18 and it's your first passport they sometimes interview. I've asked people this before and I can't see any real system of how they do it.
