Pension Credits
5 Answers
Can I claim pension credits? I reach 65 years old in 3 months time, although I expect to be working well after that date, due to circumstances. I have been in employment for 44 years and am wondering what entitlements I am due. Assuming I am keeping fit.( I hope!). I am a cleaner earning average wage for the job. Thank you .

If you are working and claim pension credit any wages are deducted from the pension credit. But you can work and get full state pension in addition to your wages without deductions . You may haveo pay tax on your state pension though .
State pension is what you will get not pension credit. You should have had a statement from the DWP telling you what state pension you are going to get before now.

As you have perhaps discovered from an earlier recent question, Pension Credit can become payable to a man of an age where a female of the same age would be entitled to a Basic State Pension. It impacts men between the ages of about 62 and 65.
You are of that age, but your earnings are currently above the threshold for any entitlement.
So back to Eddie's answer on ensuring you claim your State Pension from April this year.
