I need to send a share certificate valued at around £4,000 to USA. What is the best way to do this safely, and also insured for the stated amount? I've checked a couple of ways but the insurance value seems to stop around £500. It will basically be a letter rather than a package, either A4 or smaller if I fold it.

Parcelforce global do an insurance up to £2500 but it will cost you £151!

Most couriers don't ship letters but I would contact UPS
I was also going to suggest UPS. Their website suggests a cost of around £45 but it's not exactly user-friendly! It would probably be better to phone them on 03457 877 877 to find out what they can offer.
Is the share certificate registered in the owners name, or is it a 'bearer bond'? If the former, there should be no need for insurance cover over the cost of obtaining a replacement certificate should it be intercepted in the mail. If it is a bearer certificate, then insurance should be considered.
