Hi Just some info if anyone can assist.  I have a outstanding debt owing to the Index flexible, known as Index extra, a home shopping account.  I pay so much weekly, trying to get rid of this account.  However I now hear Index has been taken over by Littlewoods.  I have no confirmation from them, and they are still hounding me for there cash.  My question is do I still have to pay this debt, or is there anyway I can get out of it.  Thanks

When or if they chase you for it, just offer them 5 per month, that way you are not refusing to pay and I doubt they will take you to court over it.they will ask for more but just stand firm, these debts are not classed as priority.

Yes you do have to pay for it - you ordered something, you received it and you have to pay for it - it's not rocket science.

Oh and by all means pay it off at 5 per month - this will prolong the effect on your CAIS information and your credit rating

.....and if the interest is more than 5 per month it will grow ad infinitum.

Let me get this right, you think you can welsh on paying because the company changed hands? They would take on all the accounts as part of the deal, the terms shouldn't change but they will try and collect.

Well put Oneeyedvic.

For my part I cannot remember a time when Index was not part of Littlewoods, although what did happen is that Littlewoods itself was taken over by the Barclay Brothers a couple of years back, and is now pitching to buy the GUS mail order business, (but this has been referred to the MMC).
Index was part of the Littlewoods group - you will recall they had them in their stores.  Recently Argos bought the Index name and business but for those with Flexible accounts these remain with Littlewoods and the card can continue to be used at Littlewoods stores, catalogues and ESport.com.
