I am trying to help a neigbour's daughter with a project. She is putting together a hypothetical new "life style" magazine and we need to factor in revenue from advertising. Does anyone have any idea as to what sort of percentage of such a magazine's revenue comes from advertisements, rather than cover price? I understand that there will be a lot of contributory factors, particularly circulation and target market but it is only a project and the logic and reasoning are more important than the actual results. If anyone has any suggestions we will both be very grateful.

If you work on the basis that two-thirds of the magazine's income will come from advertising, you'll probably be in the right sort of area. That figure is supported by various web links, including this one:
