I am having rather a long senior moment. have been working on a spreadsheet that I have used for years and having completed entering figures into a column I clicked and dragged the figures to the end in order to get a total. No such luck. There was not even a place for the total to appear. There must be a simple ANSWER TO THIS BUT I'm BLOWED IF I CAN FIND IT.I shall be closing down in disgust and logging on tomorrow to see if there is anyone who can help. It's probably something very simple.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If you select a whole column of figures by selecting the top and dragging down to one below the last cell then you should either automatically get the sum or if that option isn't set (not sure it's available in 97) then clicking auto sum should do it without the need to manually enter the formula NJ
