Maybe possible for a short while but not long term. Those handling money and making decisions should have the members' confidence. Outside bodies such as insurers, banks, licensing authority need the names of those who take responsibility. At the very least a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer should be appointed preferably by election of the members. The situation should be resolved urgently, if this is not possible the club should be wound up. Are there trustees? If so, these should be informed.
Our local social club has run for the past few years with a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. No one has wanted to be on the committee despite numerous appeals. The club is lucky that it owns the building and is free of tie to any brewery. Opening hours have been cut, the Stewards job no longer exists & is now run by part time bar staff. Membership costs £10 per year and a reduced rate for OAP's but membership is now approx 300. But the prices are now in line with some public houses. It is only a matter of time before this one bites the dust.
