The Corbyloon- I don't understand why you disagree in principle with the idea of weighing some yourself and I'm not sure why you refer to the weights of other coins. It seems to me to be a good way to do it.
But the comment did make me think that if rosiew hasn't opened the tin it could be other coins or items have contaminated the tin.
Out of interest please let us know the total value of the coins when yo do count them/bank them.

FF I referred to other coins because folk may not know the tuppence is twice the weight of the penny or that the ten pence is twice the weight of the five pence. If you have a tin of 1p and 2p coins for example, as long as you know the weight of a penny it does not matter how many of each you have, you can work out the value from the total weight.
Well I have certainly got your taste buds going folks!!!!. This is the 2nd time that I have saved £2 coins and the last time I had £658. Mr Rosie thought that it did not weigh as much but with all your replies..... he is once again correct. I will be opening the tin in about 4 weeks as we have to have the house re wired so its going towards that. If only I had another 20 kilo's of coins. I will let you know. Thanks for all your replies and have a lovely sunday. x
It may be worth opening your tin to check your coins, you may have some rare ones in there. http:// blog.po stoffic eshop.c o.uk/ch ange-ch ecker-g uest-bl og-ulti mate-gu ide-the -top-10 -rarest -coins- in-circ ulation /
