Could give it a go and see what they say
sorry I cant be of any more help Sean, parted with quite a few this afternoon paying for 12 month road tax :((
I have never been given a Scottish Note except when I have been in Scotland. They are not 'Legal Tender' in England ,shops are not compelled to accept them and banks cannot issue them.

That's ok Sam I will get my hands on a couple from somewhere, cheers.

Thank you Douglas and all other responses
"They are not 'Legal Tender' in England.."

They are not Legal Tender in Scotland either, Eddie. The only banknotes that are Legal Tender are those issued by the Bank of England.
Most banks will have them. Banks will take them over the counter from business customers in their usual takings, but will outsort them so they are not handed out to customers. When the banks have "collected" a certain quantity they will remit them to their cash centres for exchange for B of E notes.

So just try a few banks, but it will be hit or miss whether any have them. The nearer you are to the Scottish border, the more likely the banks will have them.
