My wife suffers from a long-term health problem and will be on medication for the rest of her life. Is she entitled to free prescriptions? The cost of them is quite high, even getting them on a 3 monthly basis.
Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, I'll go into that. Why don't the doctor's mention this sort of thing? Over the years, we have spent a small fortune on prescriptions.

My mum has the prepaid certificate and saves a fortune (she's on a lot of medication).

Whether you can get free prescriptions depends on what illness you have (I know thyroid disorders and diabetes are included). I get free prescriptions and it is all done by the doctor (he has the forms and he fills them all in). So, maybe you should ask your doctor.

She's only entitled to free prescriptions if she's registered disabled.
Chessman you do NOT have to be registered disabled. Folk on Income Support or Income Based Jobseekers Allowance qualify too and there are other qualifying conditions. A lot of folk think that being on Incapacity Benefit qualifies them for free prescriptions but it doesn't
