I wouldnt quite honestly
I inherited small amounts from a relation - we cdnt agree ( yawn) so the only option was to split a small holding into four very small holdings [ this is the only way to proceed if one (rather stupid) benficiary will only say - I dont agree, I dont agree)
and predictably they are a pain to manage
you should be able to do it directly but I have never found out how
the smallest handling fee ( sell only without advice) I found to be £35. - so 1 buy and 1 sell is £70 and that is almost all your £100
last year the biggest growth was in ...... mining
( 30%) and that was because of China's growth and - - pound's weakness following brexit. I missed this completely and this rather stuffed any pretension I had towards stock-picking

If you wish to buy shares in small amounts I would try setting up a plan to buy shares in unit trusts say £20 per month. This is the best way to dip your foot in shares. I have bought and sold shares all my life and can honesty say I have made more money out of unit trusts than shares
