2. It seems to be being carried out solely in a couple of Lancashire villages at the minute.

The only fracking activity around London (either planned or current) is to the south of the M25:

Whether traditional drilling or fracking is used, there's no point looking for oil or gas if their aren't hydrocarbons underground in the first place. So if you're not sitting above a coal bed there won't be any fracking in your area.
