I bought an item of goods (paid by cheque) on line which was never received, the address given by the seller turned out to be a mail drop and both phone lines given me are no longer in operation!

I wish to obtain the location of the bank that the cheque was drawn on what is the procedure for this.

Ask your bank for a copy of the paid cheque - note they may charge.

With luck the stamp will be legible.

If this was on EBay - contact them asap - other users should be notified of this fraudulent seller, and also, they may have information and advice on this matter.

Good luck! Hope it wasn't TOO much money! :-)

Drum, if you bought the item and wrote the cheque then the location of the branch is your own. Perhaps you meant to ask a different question.

Yes indeed it was an eBay transaction, although the sellers feedback indicated that everyone received their goods he had a few negatives, the item was a rare BBC amp, as well as contacting a couple of his buyers I also contacted the BBC to check on the legitimacy, Im in the States at the moment and as I was suspicious of this seller I asked a friend to pick the item up but at the last minute problems forced me to get the seller to just post it directly to me, one of his emails was a bit strange and I came close to stopping the cheque, I guess one should always go with ones gut feeling, this got very protracted so I am now outside Ebays 60 day limit regarding their fraud procedures, one of the other buyers spotted he was trading under a different name on Ebay a normal practice it would seem. Im out by 250 plus of course I didnt get the amp! My bank is Virgin One who are normally excellent but they seem to be a bit slow on this. Thanks for your advice.
