Card Declined

I have just put in a small order for children's toys from Amazon, the order was confirmed by email, then another email received to say my card (Barclaycard Visa) was declined. I know there is no problem with my card, but selected another 'payment option' (American Express) and that too was declined. There is more than enough money in both accounts. I am reluctant to ring up the cards helpline as you can go round in circles on these. Presumably they will cancel the order if payment really doesn't go through, I dont want to re-order in case I get sent two! The order still shows on my Amazon Account as being delivered next week. Help please.
PS: I checked my Barclaycard account and it is OK, plenty of credit and nothing unordered by me.

Check your card expiry date. If ok do a call back phone to Amazon to check status of order. Then call Barclaycard if no luck with Amazon. Could be a computer glitch with Amazon it has happened to me.
Perhaps you could find someone (friend, relative) who could place the order for you, using their card. You could then reimburse them.

I had a card refused once and discovered it was because the card had been renewed by the bank (routine renewal as card had expired). The card details were unchanged from the old card but Amazon had noted the card had passed its expiry date. I just updated my card details on Amazon (just the expiry date) and all was well.

Thanks for your suggestions, however the expiry date is next year and it is correct on the order. Will try ringing Amazon later, failing that Barclaycard, strange that the AE one failed too. Could it just be a temporary blip with Amazon, if so, should I reorder or just see if the order arrives next week. The order is not urgent.
I don't think that it's a temporary blip from Amazon. I do think that either
(a) you've accidentally entered the wrong figures (or, say, omitted the three-digit security code) ; or
(b) you've failed to clear your browser's cache.
I'd try putting in the order again (after you done Buenchico's suggestion). It's easy enough to cancel the first order if the second one is accepted.

Sorry for the delay in following up - was waiting to see if the order arrived. Received the 'order is on its way' for all 3 items yesterday, and today the first arrived, so assuming Amazon doesn't post anything until they are paid, all is in order, so its a mystery! Thanks everyone for your help.
Have you checked both your accounts to ensure the money hasn't been taken from both ?
I had a payment declined, ordered it again and then got an e-mail later in the week telling me the first order was on its way.

Although the orders were less than a minute apart, there were three days between the confirmation e-mails.

God knows what the issue was or what caused the delay.
