Sorry. Thought I was copying a link.
Looks too soon to know anything very much, sadly.
Question Author
True, mamya. I don’t think I can drive that far anymore and the train is a possibility..... 6+ hours.
oh bumtits, Chrissa :(

I'm aware if you pay by credit card there's greater protection than if you've paid by debit card (unless things have changed in recent years)
The only 'impounding' link I can find is this one:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8075693/Flybe-planes-impounded-UK-airports-amid-fears-ailing-airline-collapsed.html

This BBC link is probably more accurate:

If you've already booked with Flybe then you're not automatically covered by any form of insurance if the airline fails. You can get your money back if you booked the flights through a company holding an Air Tour Operator's Licence or (if the amount you paid was over £100) if you paid by credit card (but not with a debit card). Otherwise you'd be an unsecured creditor of the company which, given the debts of Flybe, would almost certainly result in you losing all of what you'd paid:

Chris what about going by National Express?

Frankly, I think anyone stupid enough to have booked with FlyBe *deserves* to lose their money.

This might help.

I worked for an airline years ago that went bust overnight with no warning to the staff. Suddenly no job!
Oh Jim. ))
Jim, that's just rude.
Jim. Your post is of no help to chrissa at this time . I hope you get something arranged chrissa .
Chrissa, I can’t remember where your baby twins are. If they’re in this country maybe forget about the flight cost and look at Megabus or similar.
Question Author
I’ve flown with Flybe for the last nine years, Jim.

Southampton, clover.
Just pop a post in 'Travel', Chrissa, if you need suggestions on alternative ways to travel. (There are some good deals available on rail travel if you book in advance. Please provide as much info as possible).

I'm sorry that you're going to lose out this way, chrissa.
Where are you starting from, Chrissa?
Question Author
Newcastle
If your actual end point is well to the west of Southampton (e.g. Exeter), rather than being Southampton itself, you could fly from Newcastle to Newquay with Loganair. (It's a new service, starting on 1 April).

Coach travel, with National Express, takes between 11 and 12 hours from Newcastle to Southampton, with a change at either Birmingham or London. The fares are cheap though, at under, or just a bit over, £20 one-way.

Megabus has a direct coach service though, taking 10h 15m, with a typical one-way fare around £17.

The National Rail website seems to be throwing a wobbly at the moment but, by trying some sample dates and times on the LNER website, I'm finding the one-way outbound fare as low as £52 (which involves getting across London) or £88.10 (direct), with journey times in the region of 5½ hours. Coming back, I'm again seeing £52 via London but just £70.70 direct.
