automatically credited to my new one?
I booked with my old card last year. In the meantime I have had a new card issued and was told to destroy my old one.
I think it will automatically appear on my new on. Am I correct?
Thanks folks. xx

Unless anything has changed since my retirement, the refund will be made to the old card number and the bank will apply to the new one. Any Companies where you have the old number registered will reject any debit transactions until you update your records with them

No it won't. Different long number, different expiry date, contact your bank
If the number's the same, then you should be OK. If different then, you would do well to let the refunder know
I recently got a new credit card, I had to change a couple of regular payments taken from the card as they were refused due to the long number etc being different. For security reasons they never give you the same long number when your card expires
In the past I had something similar to what you are describing and it was explained to me that the two card numbers relate to the self same account and while post-switch dated debits will be flagged/queried, refunds will go through because they relate to an already acknowledged transaction. However, it would be advisable for you to check with your provider.
That's interesting Karl. I think the Op would be wise to contact the Bank and make them aware, I'm sure something could be put in place.
I got a new card last month and the long number was the same the only thing different is the cvc number and dates.
In fact I have had a credit card with the same number for over 10 years

Thank you everyone.
Firstly, the card had not expired it had another year at least left on it.
The first 12 numbers are the same but the last four were turned around like this 1002 to 2001.
If the bank told you to destroy the old one then it is no longer valid.
It will be held in a holding account until you claim it

Polly I destroyed it when I got the new one, middle of last year.
All the usual sites I use for shopping, groceries etc I put the new details on when I received the new card.
But this refund is for a one off purchase of tickets for an opera which they have cancelled, not me, and have refunded to the original card number.
So as nobody really seems sure, I shall wait a few days and see. I have a feeling it will go through without a problem but I may be wrong.
I think Karl's answer is the nearest. I'll let you know what happens. Thank you all. xx

Ah ubasses, didn't see your reply, I was typing.
I think you're agreeing with me that it will get there, aren't you LOL?
Yes Ladybird. Even if you made a monthly repayment to the old card number it will get credited.
