Hi. Have been a customer with a fashion catalogue for 15 years. I've never had a high balance, never missed a payment and usually pay off a purchase quicker than nessesary. Last week I ordered 2 items but the next day they cancelled my order, reduced my credit to zero and said I'm now in arrears by what was on the account. I have absolutely no idea why this has happened. I have rung them but no help, live chat was the same. I have emailed thier credit department but still have no answer. Where do I go now?
It could be a subtle way of getting you to stop trading with them. If you spend very little/return lots of items etc they might feel they are not making enough money out of you and get you to close your account rather than them close it for you.
Chinajan, I phoned company but only got the orderline who said not thier department but would escalate my query to the credit dept, that was Tuesday, heard nothing since. Tried live chat but again was told not thier dept but would pass on my request. I have emailed credit department but had no reply.
I have run my account well for 15 years with no problems whatsoever.
You said that they said you were in arrears. How did they convey this message? Was it by email? If so there should be a reply email address or a separate phone number for you to query their message.
And when they said you were in arrears did they state an amount and make a demand for payment?
I can't help with your problem, others are better at that, but if you look for a different company you may find its affiliated to the one youre with now.
Complain to your local Trading Standards. It will put a black mark against them. There might be others. There might be an over arching loss of business because of Corona and they are shredding some customers.
Close your account down - they are a business but they do not want your custom so be it. Do not offer it In this internet age suppliers are ten a penny junk them. Get another.
Get revenge and attack. Send a harsh twitter message. Embarrass them in public. They don't like it. I know!
Complain to Trading Standards. Get them!
For your own benefit,(and future reference),put it down in writing with the dates you phoned and keep emails in a folder. I would write to the catalogue and keep a copy of the letter. Hope you sort it out.
Before you start going to Trading Standards you need to be sure your not misunderstanding whats happened.
Have you checked your account online to see what it says your balance is? Check your purchases and payments.
If there saying your in debit have they demanded a payment or are they just closing your account.
Its also worth checking your credit file
