I have for a while been being asked if i want to go paperless for many things, (banks, building society, credit cards NHS and so on)
i have never clicked yes because i prefer to have them both arrive in the post AND available electronically
This morning i've been texted by my bank that i WILL be moving to paperless from now on. Is this a sign of things to come?

It’s taken me a while, Bednobs, but I’ve finally gone paperless, don’t get any receipts, no statements, etc.
NHS still send me appointment letters though, doesn’t seem to be an electronic option or I’d choose that too.
Are you sure you weren't tricked into it, Bednobs? One of our banks regularly lays traps at logging-in time; if you dismiss it you've gone paperless. Log into your account and check your "settings"; you might be able to undo the change.
My Bank (Virgin Money) will provide paper statements unless you state that you want to go paperless.

Vagus, I get my hospital apointments etc, by text.

i also get NHS appts and post-appt letters by text asking me to log on to see them, but also via post. There is an option to go paperless within the website
Last year I went paperless for my house and contents insurance. Lucky I haven't needed them as I have no idea whom I'm with! I did say at the time I didn't want to auto-renew so I expect they'll contact me at some point.
i've gone paperless but i save relevant emails/messages
I get gp surgery appointment reminders by text but hospital appointments still just come through the post.
I really wish they’d come via text or email as we’re away a lot and I could change appointments if I knew about them. I’ve missed two as we got home to letters telling me the appointment was yesterday or something.
"Is this a sign of things to come? " - yes I think so, cost savings are there to be had and any sensible business will pursue them. I have about 5% of the paperwork I used to have, everything that's possible to go paperless I have done so. Had a massive bonfire of all the stuff I don't need. Between me and err indoors we've almost emptied a room!
I think it's inevitable, really.

I had to return an online order to a M&S store this morning. I logged into my account as there was no invoice/note in the parcel, the account told me that the order is paperless and that I should produce a the barcode given (on my account) to the cashier. She was clueless in all shapes and forms, didn't know about paperless, said the barcode wasn't working because I had no service on my phone. I had to trawl through emails. The whole thing was a chore. I held the queue up for about 15 minutes.

So whilst paperless is great, it's not so if nobody knows what they are supposed to be doing.
As long as it doesn’t happen in public toilets, I’m happy with it.
Very good :0)
TSB recently told me I was going paperless, but did allow opt out - when I tried it, it didn't work. But it looks as though after the implementation date (1st Sept) I will have the facility to opt in for paper again. Fingers crossed - I simply don't trust banks etc without a paper trail - I've had my fingers burnt before.
I think ZM and Doug should form a double act!
Dooogie n Zacs. Has a certain ring to it.
At least the banks and credit cards I use don't charge for paper copies.

BT includes £3.00 a quarter for having paper bills.
I am paperless everything but I do print out the key information of important documents so other people in the house can get it should they need to - house and car insurance, car tax, that sort of thing
