Inappropriate or what? I think it's inappropriate to talk mention someone's body size. What happened was, I and another colleague were in the office and her manager said, "It's so warm in here" and my colleague said, "That's how we like it". Then he looked over at me and said, "Your so wafer thin that's why". It struck me dumb and I just went red and carried on with my work.

'I always feel that treating it as a compliment is a win-win'

Except that it encourages the Manager to carry on saying such things!
I similarly had comments such as “ you don’t feel the cold though, do you?”. And that is accurate, but I tried not to be oversensitive thinking they were commenting on my weight. They were of course. But they weren’t being rude, it was factual.
