Could I have proof, ideally with a UK Gov link or a Citizens Advice link or someone who is in a position to know. Not guesswork please.
Apologies if that sounds snotty but I am already tearing my hair out having spent a day and a half trying to sort this out.
AA is supposed to be something nice the Government does for terminally ill folk.
Big thank you if anyone can help.

You have me baffled, ladybirder. You could not have got the disabled person's exemption without the car's V5 showing it as being in the disabled class.
When you were told you were no longer entitled to it you would have had to send your V5 back to get it changed.
Can you hold my hand and tell me step by step what happened.
When did you buy your car? Did you buy it new? Did the V5 ever show it being in the disabled tax class?
How did you find out you would have to start paying the tax? Have you had to send your V5 back?

and i would add, the free tax you have been receiving, is that a case of not having to pay the tax, or a payment made to you to cover the tax?
Also, just to warn you, the "special rules" are usually used if someone has six months or less to live, and if you've been getting it for a couple of year, a review WILL happen at some point. Of course, the review may say that you are still entitled, but when i was a macmillan nrse, i did see cases of people having it withdrawn

Barry I have found on the V5C, Tax Class: Disabled!!!!
So why doesn't the Gov's Taxing a vehicle site show that? I bought the car in 2018.
They want the "National Insurance (NI) number of disability exemption certificate holder e.g. AB123456X" I don't have it because I don't have a certificate.
Two whole days wasted on this now and no nearer to sorting it. Unless I just pay of course but it's the principle.
Cream crackered now and all I've done is sit crouched over a computer most of the day.
