What Do I Do?
I'm really struggling financially and don't get paid till next Friday. How do I get money?
Answers
Abbey, your phone bill and driving lessons must be regular expenses. How did you think they were going to be paid? You might have had money owing to you, if you've overpaid tax... but you didn't make any effort to sort that out. You've had months of part-time work and not really tried to get an additional income. Ignoring things, problems, won't make them go away!
So you are paid weekly. So I'm wondering what happened to the £150 you got paid on Friday.
As we keep saying you should be getting a lot more net- maybe £200 pw- but you need to sort your tax code out. Do it this week. You might get a nice tax refund of a few hundred pounds when it's all sorted out.
"like my driving lesson and phone bill"
So cancel your lessons until you can afford them as there's no rush to pass. And review your phone bill. Are you on a contracts- how much per month? If you're out of contract begotiate a new one or shop around- I pay £5 a month and get plenty of data and more than enough calls/texts included
I just had a quick look on an income tax calculator, and if abbeys salary is the minimum wage and 20 hours...she should be taking it all home. The tax threshold is £242 and a bit.
Of course I might be completely wrong...but it's a lot more than £150.
Abbey....SORT THE TAX CODE...do it when you next go in to work!
Abbey, lots of people have told you to sort out your tax code... will you do that now? Did you your employer ever get a P45 when you moved over from the care home? You could have been paying too much tax there - but even if you hadn't, the P45 would have had the tax code your next employer would be using. Your tax affairs could be in a bit of a muddle with the overlapping jobs, the random part-time posts and so on. It'd be good if you tackled this head on.
