I bought my house 18 months ago and was happily living on my own. Have no met someone and we're thinking of him moving in. Financially he would kind of be my lodger, he would contribute to the mortgage but his name wouldn't be on it.

I have reservations as I've heard horror stories couples splitting and the 'lodger' being entitled to half of everything. How long would he have to live in my house to be entitled to anything?

My ideal would be to live like this temporarily and then rent out my current house and for us to buy one together in a year or 2. Any advice / comments?
