Well the EU's trade deficit to US is huge.  Like some other countries they love the tarrifs and protectionism themselves but dont like it back.

The need to be careful, they have far more to loose than the USA.

"U.S goods imports from the European Union totaled $605.8 billion in 2024, up 5.1 percent ($29.4 billion) from 2023. The U.S. goods trade deficit with the European Union was $235.6 billion in 2024, a 12.9 percent increase ($26.9 billion) over 2023."

They probably should try to export stuff the importing nation actually wants.

Those in wealthy nations will spend on goods regardless where they're from. But tax them too much, and inflation encourages them to save instead.

In what world is this a mess?  Haven't you ever been in business?

Can you remind me of any trade wars involving tariffs that brought a successful outcome? The Great Depression springs to mind as a more likely outcome. Fortunately after retaliation, counter retaliation and further escalation, the penny usually drops eventually and the tariffs are stripped back and there is a return to something close to free trade.

Yes, I have been in business, Hazi-Hammenuhoth - but I can't see the good of all this tit-for-tat between nations.
