O2 share offer

Not a question, but an answer to a question that was posted some time back

Have seen a report today that says cheques will be posted on 6 February to those who have accepted.

I'm glad you said that as I was wondering! Are you au fait re MMO2 shares at all please? I found a certificate recently and the Registrars say that they are worth nothing. I must have missed something.

MMO2 shares became worthless some time last year. Holders were either bought out (at a price inferior to the current offer) or given O2 shares in exchange.

Not sure if the two events were at exactly the same time - my memory is a bit vague

Thanks dzug. My main few MMO2 which have obviously become O2 were held by the Share Centre who obviously did the right things on my behalf, and I will get something I hope on 6th February. But 300 MMO2s I had at home - I had neglected to do anything. If one has 300 of something and someone takes them away giving no recompense - well, there's a name for that isn't there? I wonder whether there's much left of the O2 value!

You didn't have to do anything - the replacement certificates were sent out automatically with a letter explaining they replaced the old MM02 ones.

Try contacting the registrars to find out what O2 shares they think you hold. They will arrange (for a charge alas) a replacement certificate if it has been lost and you can still get your money.

Ta dzug. I can't give you any stars as there is no rating button! I'll phone back tomorrow re the Registrars letter about the MMO2 x 300. Also I'll phone The Share Centre to see what is coming to me via the 02 shares they held for me as I did accept that offer. It looks as though we have all been swindled one way or the other.
