My husband walked out on me over 2 years ago to sort out his head and has been constantly saying that he wants to come back but needs time - thus the 2 years. I that time i have managed to aquire some assests like property and my small one man band business (of which he is shareholder)is starting to do well. I have now asked for a divorce - can anyone advise how I can protect myself and keep my assets away from him?

If you divorce then all the assets, debts, furniture, property, pensions, savings - everything is part of the marital 'pot'. How that pot is divided up depends on if you agree how to divide it. If you do not agree and it is decided by lawyers or ultimately the court, then it will depend on your needs, his needs, how long the marriage was, who contributed what, if there are any children and all those sort of things. Once you have your settlement then you can move forward. Best to get some legal advice.
