Not sure what if anything else you are entitled to but you could always ask at your local council offices or information shop.
Oh, just a thought. What about free eyetests? Im sure these kick in at 60

The free bus pass varies according to where in the country you live. Around here it's a half price pass.

You can buy (for 20) a senior railcard for one-third off rail fares

You get half price on National Express and SOME other coach services

You get the winter fuel allowance. You need to be 60 in September for that winter.

Free eye tests as stated

You get free national insurance credits if not working

Some hotel chains give you a discount (Best Western for starters - some others as well)

B&Q (and Focus?) have some sort of discount card

Can't think of any more at the moment

Wow dzug, your answers are always so informative! It almost makes it worth while being 60 eh!

It's getting better, keep going

I didn't know about the free prescriptions, I spend 18 a month so that's good news.

jrtv - if you were spending that much you should have got a prepayment certificate anyway - 33-90 for 4 months or 93-20 for a year for as many prescriptions as you need

Just started having them in the last 3 months, however why didn't the nurse or chemist tell me this ?

Thanks anyway, I shall apply next week.

And possibly cheaper hairdressing. Some hairdressers and barbers offer reductions on certain days of the week.

Believe B & Q offer a 10% reduction to pensioners on Wednesday once you've obtained their special cards.

The National Trust offer a reduced subscription to pensioners. Pity the AA doesn't for their road rescue service.

And some concerts, exhibitions, museums and galleries offer reduced entrance frees for the over 60's.
