What happens to your pension if it ends up in the pension protection fund. Will I ever be able to transfer it out and enter it into another pension scheme . Will I be able to retire earlier than planned or will it only start paying out when I reach retirement age?

Pray that your pension is never subject to the Pension Protection Fund (PPF). Your pension will never go INTO the PPF, the PPF is a government established fund designed to partially compensate people whose pension has gone up in smoke because the sponsoring employer has become insolvent and cannot meet the liabilities.
