Hi,

How long do I have to be out of work before I can claim job seekers allowance?

Are there any other restrictions?

You need to make a claim straight away, although you may not be entitled to payment immediately.

Have a read of these links. One is the official government guide, the other is more user based.

Good luck!

Yes you can claim straight away.

You just need to show that you are actively seeking work whilst on Jobseekers. Once you've been on jobseekers for 6months then you get put on something called New Deal I think which is more intense to find you work and offer emplyers money to take you on.
