This is probably what you've read about. This code of practice, however, doesn't apply to companies persuing debts. Such firms can call you (or turn up on your doorstep) at any reasonable time as long as the timing, frequency or content of the calls doesn't amount to harrassment.

again - yes they can call you on Sundays. A substantial amount of calls and letters can be harrassment. If they turn up on your doorstep you dont have to let them in and you can call the police.
A great service is called BT Choose2Refuse, from BT for a small fee. After you have answered the call, hang up and dial 14258 and they will be barred from calling you again even if they are withheld and exdirectory.
If there is a debt and the financial company has a licence to call on Sundays, the company can call out. However, if you receive a notice of default on your account, they are not allowed to call after the date of issue of the default for 10 days, until the termination letter is issued. Sales calls are restricted I understand, but I do not work in this area so I am unsure.
