How long does a default stay on your details??

Hello


Im a 22 year old student and i need to rent somewhere with friends next year. I got into some financial troubles when i was 20 and a default was placed on my account which has made it almost impossible for me to get credit. How long will it be registered for? Any help would be appreciated!

It stays on your CRA records for 6 years. But if you are able to pay the debt in full, it should be noted on the files as satisfied. That might help you get more credit - depends on the view adopted by the potential lender.
