Credit Card Fraud ?
3 Answers
How did this happen ? My brother went to the bank with his credit card this morning and his balance was zero. So he got a statement which showed that small amounts of money had been withdrawn frequently over the past month. Twice whilst he was abroad on holiday. All of the payments were made to our local pub. There were 4 transactions yesterday (and he wasn't there yesterday!) So he went to speak to the landlord and they both went through all of yesterdays receipts. Not one of them matches the amounts on the statement - and the pub's PDQ machine balances. So how has this happened ? Thanks in advance

Credit cards can be used without the cardholder being present eg when you pay for something over the phone or the net. They can also be cloned and used by a fraudster that way.
It takes a few days for transactions to be debited to the card so its possible the pub was looking through the reciepts for the wrong day.
