Can anyone explain why carers loose their care Allowence when they reach pension age and are stilll looking after the person in their care?

There are others who can't receive Carer's Allowance and other benefits. A widow or widower can't get the Carer's Allowance and Bereavement Benefit at the same time. If Incapacity Benefit is claimed because yir unfit for work, you can't get both benefits. We call them overlapping Benefits and while I agree it's unfair, it's what the law decrees I'm afraid.
