Russia buying out British Gas?

What would happen to British Gas if Gazprom (the Russian comany) bought Centrica (who own British Gas) - would that mean loss of jobs, shares going through the roof. I guess that many customers will disapprove, even though Powergen, whom I am with are probably French or German.
