Hello everyone I'm glad you're here. My name is Josh. My girlfriend and I are splitting after 7 years and have a house bought jointly with equity from our first home, with a small mortgage also. I am entitled to half of the equity by deed and the mortgage is in her name alone. My first question is, "What are my options?" I don't believe she will let me go easy, and my saving are dwindling as I have not yet found work in our new state of residence. At this point, plan is to return to our original state of residence and get back on track. So, time is of the essence and I guess I can't complain about paying someone out of the proceeds, for any help. Although I'm sure I qualify for assistance since I am unemployed. Just to recap, our house is owned jointly, but I am not responsibe for the mortgage and I only want what is equally fair. Thank you.

You say "State of residence" wich makes me wonder are you NOT in the UK. This is a predominantly UK site, and any advice given here is usually given in relation to the UK, so any advice you may get could be irrelevent unless you clarify.

I'm in North Carolina, U.S., should I look for help elsewhere. Does anyone know of a reputable site for my area?
