If you enter into an IVA, does anyone else have to find out about it? (I mean friends and family etc)

Only if you tell them!
If anyone has a financial link with you, then it will become very aparent to them as they will find it very difficult to get credit. If they order a copy of their credit report, they will see that you have an iva. This can only happen to people who have a finanical link: usually just a spouse if you have a joint finance agreement, but maybe someone who has guaranteed a loan etc
