Harrassment??
6 Answers
At what point does it become harrassment if my bank keeps calling me??
I like many people owe a fair bit of money but I hold my hands up to all of it. I have given all of my debtors as much information about my finances as I possibly can including details of impending bankruptcy. All but one of the banks (the one with the "talented" singing staff) have been very understanding and accepted payment plans /token payments etc. All of this has been done with the guidence of the CCCS. The bank in question however keeps calling me on a daily basis usualy between 10-14 times. I've asked them to remove me from their automated system but they say that until a satisfactory arrangement can be made there is nothing they can do.
Is there anything I can do to stop them calling me?

There was a thread a while back where ABers were asked what they do in the event of unwanted phone calls....you should get some ideas by typing in unwanted phone calls into the AB search the site........my favourite was to let them finish there speil and reply........stop messing about, this f....ing body won't shift itself, hurry up and get your a.se round here with the chainsaw......then hang up
I like the idea of the chainsaw!!!
Unfortunately I cant change my number yet as I'm under contract for quite a while longer. At the moment all I am doing is dropping the calls without answering, but even that's beginnning to wear thin.Looks like I might have to put up with them until the bankruptcy. (I know for a fact that they cant contact me after that!!)

You are quite right - this could well be deemed as Harrassment - Go and have a look at the 'Protection From Harrassment Act' which will give you an easy defenition - It does include companies. You could also contact the Office of Fair Trading with your problem. What you should probably do first is write to them and officially ask them not to contact them by phone, although you will continue to communicate by mail. They cannot and will not continue after you do this - remember to send the letter recorded, and to inform them that you will take further action should the continue.
