I am remortgaging my house and the valuer is coming tomorrrow. What exactly will he do does he look in cupboards and things?
I am only asking because I am not the tidiest of people and have a lot of clutter which I have just shoved inside my cupboards :) and now I am thinking that maybe he will have to look in them?
Unless you have very special fitted cupboards then no.
He will not judge you on your tidiness. He may look in the cupboard 'under the stairs' just to get an idea of size, but that is highly unusual.
As you are remortgaging he will be in your house for less than 10 minutes. He will already know the 'average' price for your type of house in your area and will just want to make sure it is worth the amount of mortgage.
It will be a very perfunctory look around so don't worry. The mortgage company wants your business.
He will be looking for things like paint peeling, rot, damage to the interior, but NOT cleansiness. Anything which could potentially davalue the price of your house.
